Terms of Service
Welcome to Been Handled, a group payment coordination service operated by Been Handled (operating as a Sole Proprietorship) ("we", "us"). By creating an account, sharing a checkout link, or paying through a Been Handled link, you agree to these Terms.
1. What Been Handled does
Been Handled helps a business or group host ("the host") collect payment from a squad — customers, group members, wedding parties, teams, class rosters — through a single shareable link. We are not a bank, travel agency, escrow agent, or money transmitter. Payments are processed by Stripe and settle to the host's connected Stripe account. Been Handled coordinates the link, the roster, the receipts, and the reporting.
2. Pricing
Individual users (B2C): $9.99 per month. Cancel any time; access continues through the end of the billing period. No per-transaction fee to the user beyond the standard processing fee shown at checkout.
Business partners (B2B) — four tiers, matching the Partnership Agreement:
- Boutique — $99 per location / month (or $1,000 / store / year, saving ~16%). 1 physical location, up to 3 active staff seats, unlimited link creation, CRM CSV exports, standard email + chat support. Rate locked for 12 months.
- Pilot Partnership — contact for pricing. Up to 5 fixed store locations. White-labeled checkout branding, custom trust badges inside the Stripe embedded panel, priority onboarding + VIP Slack channel, quarterly operations reviews.
- Regional Partnership — contact for pricing. Up to 25 physical locations. Legacy software integrations (POS, ERP, CRM), named Customer Success Manager with an active SLA.
- Enterprise Partnership — contact for pricing. Unlimited system locations and contract terms. Full REST API access, dedicated integration engineer, full SOC 2 security diligence pack, HMAC-SHA256 signed webhook logs with retry and automated dead-letter routing.
All partners also participate in a revenue share on the 10% + $0.50 processing fee charged at checkout: after Stripe's fees (2.9% + $0.30 per successful charge), the net processing fee is split 50/50 between Been Handled and the partner and paid out monthly through the partner's connected Stripe account. Revenue share applies to every tier.
All amounts are in US dollars. Stripe processing fees are transparent to the payer at checkout as "Processing fee." Contact partnership@beenhandled.com for partnership pricing.
3. Pricing modes for hosts
When you create a checkout link ("a Been"), you choose how the squad pays:
- Per Person: everyone pays the same fixed amount.
- Split Total: a total price is divided across a fixed headcount. If the full roster does not pay, the host is responsible for the shortfall. Processing fees on completed payments are non-refundable.
- Open Contribution: guests pay any amount toward a goal. Payments are blocked once the goal is met; the host may raise the goal to reopen.
4. Refunds
Refunds of the base amount are issued to the original payment method at the host's discretion (or automatically when a host cancels a Been that has not yet been fulfilled). The 10% + $0.50 processing fee is non-refundable because Stripe fees on the original charge are not returned to us. See the Refund Policy for the full breakdown.
5. Your responsibilities
- Provide accurate account information and keep your login secure.
- Only share checkout links with people who have agreed to be part of the group order.
- Do not use Been Handled for illegal activity, fraud, or to coerce payment from people who did not consent to join.
- Hosts are responsible for delivering the goods or services their Beens describe.
6. Partner marketing consent & audience export
When you create an account or pay through a Been Handled checkout link, you acknowledge and agree that the sponsoring partner brand associated with that link (for example, the boutique, coach, studio, or business that set up the order) may contact you after the sale with promotions, sales announcements, product updates, and other marketing communications by email, SMS, or phone using the contact information you provided at checkout. You also agree that the partner may export your contact information (name, email, phone, company, and purchase history) as a CSV file and import it into their own systems — including their legacy CRM, email marketing platform, POS, or personal business tools — for the purpose of sending you those communications.
- Consent is captured at checkout with a clear disclosure and a timestamped, IP-logged record before payment is completed.
- Every marketing email must include a one-click unsubscribe link; every SMS must support STOP/HELP replies, consistent with CAN-SPAM and TCPA guidance — whether sent from Been Handled or from the partner's own system after export.
- Been Handled does not sell, rent, or share your contact information with third parties outside the specific partner brand you transacted with.
- You may withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing from the partner directly or by emailing privacy@beenhandled.com. Been Handled will honor the request across our platform and notify the partner of the withdrawal; the partner is legally required to suppress your contact in any downstream system into which they exported it.
- Partners agree, as a condition of using Been Handled and downloading any CSV export, to comply with all applicable marketing and privacy laws (CAN-SPAM, TCPA, GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and state privacy laws), to maintain their own suppression list, to honor unsubscribe and deletion requests within the required timeframes, and to indemnify Been Handled against violations arising from their use of exported data.
7. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, initiate fraudulent chargebacks, or abuse the service. You can cancel your subscription or delete your account at any time; paid subscription periods are not prorated on cancellation.
8. Disclaimers
Been Handled is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that any specific number of squad members will pay, that hosts will deliver on their promises, or that refunds from third parties can be recovered. The host, not Been Handled, is responsible for the goods or services being collected on.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Been Handled (operating as a Sole Proprietorship)'s total liability for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the total fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced by email to your account address. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the new Terms.
11. Beta release and as-is acceptance
Been Handled (operating as a Sole Proprietorship) is offering the platform in a limited beta release. By creating an account, sharing a checkout link, or paying through a Been Handled link during the beta phase, you acknowledge that the software is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis for beta testing and evaluation.
- Beta duration. The beta phase is expected to run for up to twelve (12) months from the date of first use, and may conclude earlier upon assignment of these Terms to a successor corporation.
- Beta scope. The beta phase may include pre-release features, experimental workflows, and performance characteristics that are not yet finalized. Features may change, be removed, or be added without notice.
- No warranties. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Been Handled expressly disclaims all warranties, representations, and conditions of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, quiet enjoyment, accuracy, and non-infringement. No oral or written information or advice provided by Been Handled or its authorized representatives shall create any warranty.
- Liability cap during beta. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Been Handled (operating as a Sole Proprietorship) shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost revenue, lost business, or data loss, arising out of or related to the use of or inability to use the beta platform, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Been Handled's total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the beta service shall not exceed the total amount paid by you to Been Handled in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
- System availability. Been Handled does not guarantee uninterrupted, secure, or error-free operation of the beta platform, including scheduled and unscheduled downtime, maintenance windows, or system failures.
- Transition to corporate entity. Upon formal incorporation, these Terms will be assigned to a successor corporation and updated to reflect the new corporate entity. Continued use after the update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
