Refund Policy

Draft — pending fintech attorney review. This document is provided for transparency and is not legal, tax, or fiduciary advice. Final language will be reviewed by counsel and state-by-state Seller of Travel disclosures added before live payment processing is enabled.

This policy explains what is and isn't refundable on Been Handled. It is part of our Terms of Service.

Subscriptions

Individual users ($9.99/mo): cancel any time from your account. Access continues through the end of the current billing period. We do not prorate partial months.

Business partners — Boutique ($99/mo or $1,000/yr) and Pilot / Regional / Enterprise partnerships (contact for pricing): cancel any time. Monthly plans stop at the end of the current period. Annual and Partnership tiers are non-refundable once activated, but you keep access through the paid term.

Checkout payments (squad members paying through a link)

Refunds on charges made through a Been Handled checkout link are issued at the host's discretion — the host is the business or organizer who created the Been. Contact them first.

  • Host cancels the Been before fulfillment: the base amount is refunded to each payer's original payment method.
  • Split Total shortfall: if the roster doesn't fill by the host's deadline, the host is responsible for covering the difference. Payers who already paid are not refunded unless the host cancels the Been entirely.
  • Open Contribution: contributions are non-refundable once the goal has been paid out, unless the host cancels the campaign before payout.

The processing fee is non-refundable

Every checkout charges a 10% + $0.50 processing fee on top of the base amount. Stripe keeps its portion of this fee on every successful charge — including charges that later get refunded — so we cannot return the processing fee when the base amount is refunded. This is disclosed transparently at checkout as "Processing fee."

How long refunds take

Refunds are issued to the original payment method and typically appear in 5–10 business days, depending on your bank. You'll receive a confirmation email when the refund is sent.

Chargebacks

If you have an issue, contact the host first, then email support@beenhandled.com. Filing a chargeback with your bank without contacting us first may result in account suspension.

What Been Handled does not refund

  • Money you sent outside Been Handled (Venmo, Zelle, cash).
  • Third-party vendor charges (airlines, hotels, formalwear alterations) — those follow the vendor's own refund policy.
  • The 10% + $0.50 processing fee on any completed charge.
  • Prior subscription periods already billed.
